UDA Law Review is a peer-reviewed, indexed academic legal journal that originated as a student initiative at the Law School of the University of Azuay. It has established itself as a leading forum for the critical analysis of law from diverse theoretical and practical perspectives, with particular attention to the challenges of national and international legal systems. Its fundamental purpose is to promote the dissemination of knowledge and innovative legal debate, providing a space for high-quality academic discourse.
History
Founded in 2018, the journal has been directed and managed by undergraduate students from the Faculty of Law at the University of Azuay. It arose from the need to consolidate a specialized publishing space that fosters scientific research and critical thinking, integrating students, faculty, and legal professionals in the generation of high-quality scientific knowledge.
Focus and Scope
The journal's main objective is to provide a platform for publishing legal research that addresses current legal issues from pluralistic and interdisciplinary perspectives. The aim is to contribute to strengthening the constitutional state of rights and justice by promoting interest in research and academic writing within the national and international legal community. The journal aspires to be a benchmark of excellence, fostering open debate and uncensored ideas.

UDA Law Review is a miscellaneous publication that promotes the publication of original academic and scientific research in a single section of articles. Its subject matter is broad, encompassing diverse fundamental areas of legal knowledge, such as Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Administrative, and International Law, Human Rights, and Legal Theory, without being limited to a specific theme per issue.
Publication
The journal is published digitally through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the editorial process. The publishing institution responsible for the journal is the University of Azuay, through its Publishing House. Only articles submitted through the journal's official portal are considered for publication.
Frequency and Processing
UDA Law Review is published semi-annually (biannually), with issues released in May and November. Submissions are accepted year-round. The journal guarantees efficient management with an average turnaround time of 45 days for issuing a decision after the peer review process.
Languages
The journal has an international scope and accepts research papers written in both Spanish and English. Regardless of the language of the body of the text, all articles must include the title, abstract, and keywords in both languages to facilitate international indexing.
Peer Review
A double-blind peer review system is used, ensuring that the identity of authors and reviewers remains strictly confidential to guarantee impartiality. Reviewers are selected for their experience and academic background in their respective fields; their evaluation is technical and constructive, and they are committed to disclosing any potential conflicts of interest.
Authorship Policy
Authorship is reserved exclusively for those who have made substantial contributions to the conceptualization, methodology, or critical writing of the study. The journal allows a maximum of three authors per manuscript and requires the use of the Contribution Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to detail each author's participation. Authors assume full responsibility for the veracity and accuracy of the published content.

Authors who publish in UDA Law Review retain ownership of their copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This allows for sharing and adapting the material, provided that the original authorship and source are acknowledged, it is not used for commercial purposes, and derivative works are distributed under the same license. Authors may enter into additional agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version, always citing its initial appearance in this journal.
